So, I got the Covid vaccine last week and have been in total 3G mode since the 5G update. My body has notoriously not responded well to vaccines, flu jabs, antibiotics, etc. But this was something that I needed to do to ensure that I can have some kind of life in whatever future we have. As a result, I’ve been incredibly lethargic, worn down, and just generally feeling like crap since the day after receiving it. Hence, the massive delay in getting this out to you all. Sincere apologies.

But fear not, our Live Talks continue this evening, as per our regularly scheduled programming. We hope to see lots of you there, despite the late announcement.

More on tonight’s topic in a minute.

First, let’s take a minute to recap last Monday’s talk.

In the last episode we had the honor of being be joined by Doomstar Bookings’ Luuk van Gestel, Jon Vyner of the London Underworld, and Brent Donnelly, an independent tour production manager. As Brent is gearing up for a major US tour we learned about the rules and regulations standing in the way of international touring being viable at this time.

We discussed the potential challenges the international touring world is facing and what measures could be taken and are already being taken to get us back on the road again. In addition to the ever-changing and different rules of each country, we need to think of how to make sure everyone in the touring party stays safe while also making sure the finances of the tour remain safe. The movie sets have adapted very strict COVID compliance rules which we also discussed during the call and whether some of those rules could be copied over to help with the return of the touring.

The conversation got pretty intense and shifted direction a bit here and there, but the bottom line remained the same:

We are still a long way off from any remote sense of normalcy. Although you’d never guess it looking at the packed Wembley Stadium during the semi-finals and finals of the Euro Cup football championship games.

As a direct result of the sometimes careless measures in place for these games, some countries are already facing new lockdown regulations and festivals are starting to cancel, once again, with less than a month’s notice.

We hate to keep focusing in on all of the negatives that Covid chaos continues to produce. That’s why this week, we are going to at least attempt to see some of the rare positives that could come out of all of this, and we’re doing this by focusing our attention on YOU. The Career Restricted Event Worker.

Whether you’re a touring crew member, local crew, supply company, musician, artist, driver, live music journalist, agent, promoter, manager, label… We want to hear about your “a-ha” moment and get a “Take on YOU”.

What have you discovered about yourself during this unscheduled, unfathomable long break? What’s your vision for your future? What have you learned? How has this changed you and your perception of things?

While there’s no shortage of doom and gloom still very present for our our future as an industry, let’s dig deep and focus on some of the good, however ironic, that we have been able to get out of this.

Join us tonight, Monday, July 12th, at 20:00 CEST / 19:00 BST / 18:00 UTC / 2PM EST / 11AM PST. Simply click “Join” at the top of the page, or click here to join the Zoom directly when it’s time.

As usual…. a few reminders.

This is an open forum and we want to hear from everyone who wants to speak. We LOVE the enthusiasm these bring out in everyone, but let’s be respectful to our fellow C.R.E.W members. Please be sure to mute your mic upon entering the Zoom. Once we’re all in, we’ll go through a very brief introduction of ourselves so we know who is in the room. One minute or less. We’ll kick off the conversation with a current topic and let the conversation flow from there. PLEASE use the little “raise your hand” emoji in the reactions bar located at the bottom of the Zoom screen if you’d like to say something and one of our moderators will call on you. Be sure to utilize the chat as well if you’d like to add something or share information with the rest of the participants.

The Zoom will be filmed and by attending, you agree to appearing in any future C.R.E.W Coalition free promotional based videos / photos shared on our platforms. We encourage participants to keep their camera on so we can see your beautiful faces, however you can always choose to keep your camera off if you prefer. We will always inform you ahead of time if and when we choose to post audio or video.

Finally, we encourage you to subscribe to our blog so you’re always the first person “in the know”.

AND DON’T FORGET TO JOIN THE CREW COALITION COMMUNITY!
